Our Food
Food, glorious food
Anyone for coffee? The first meal of the day sets us up for a great walk. We pride ourselves on sourcing locally roasted coffee which we gently plunge for your pleasure. Tea drinkers find that our dozen or so tea varieties offer a cup to delight. Breakfast includes a variety of cereals, toast, jams and spreads, yoghurt and fresh fruit.
A great lunch on the trail is a must. Your guides’ magical pack provides a selection of fresh and tasty salads, cold meats, cheese and an array of condiments and dips, served with wraps or rolls in a shady buffet setting.
Trek Larapinta, without being too modest, provides the best snacks on the Larapinta Trail. No dodgy muesli bars here! A selection of fresh fruit and the tastiest SCROGON you have ever tried will give you the energy boosts you need throughout the day.
Back at camp an afternoon cup of tea/coffeee or cold drink is often served with fresh baked damper, cakes or biscuits.
While you’ve been out hiking the trail your camp host has been busy preparing another scrumptious three course meal (sorry, no one on our treks loses weight :). Our entrees typically include a selection of top quality cheeses, dips, olives, nuts, dolmades and crackers or perhaps soup and damper, or even grilled haloumi. Yum!
The main event ranges from camp oven roasts with all the trimmings, curries, moroccan lamb with couscous, marinated kangaroo with stuffed capsicums and good old fashioned mash potato, or how about a fresh tasty stir fry with some thai flavours, all served outside around our camp fire…5 stars? Try a million!
To follow, a fresh fruit salad with cream or custard, maybe pavlova topped with fresh cream, strawberries and kiwi fruit, how about a fruit crumble cooked in the camp oven or poached pears with a chocolate ganache, perhaps just a huge platter of the finest chocolates?
Trek Larapinta use only the best quality ingredients and can cater for vegetarian and gluten free diets on request. We believe the combination of our beautiful food served in amazing places make our treks truly exceptional experiences.
I had high expectations for the camp food given the good reviews I had read beforehand. Can happily say it exceeded all expectations! - Kim on TripAdvisor August 2016
The food was fantastic. Every evening we sat down to a three course dinner. Barramundi, laksa, kangaroo steaks, ravioli etc. Kate and Lauren even provided tea with scones, jam and cream for us when we climbed Mt Sonder. - Fleur on TripAdvisor July 2016
